CCU names Loeswick interim head women’s volleyball coach

Steve Loeswick, Coastal Carolina University's head women's beach volleyball coach since 2018, has been named interim coach of the Chanticleers' women's volleyball program for the remainder of the 2023 season, according to Matt Hogue, CCU's vice president of intercollegiate athletics and university recreation. Loeswick replaces Jozsef Forman, who recently resigned due to family reasons.

During his six seasons with the beach volleyball program, Loeswick has compiled a 99-65 overall record. In Spring 2023, he led the Chants to a 25-13 overall record and a spot in the Sun Belt Conference championship match.

"Coach Loeswick is a proven winner who has been successful in leading various beach and indoor volleyball programs," said Hogue. "I am very thankful for his willingness to serve as interim coach and lead our student-athletes during this time of transition. We plan to launch a nationwide search for a new head coach at the conclusion of the season."

Loeswick joined CCU after six seasons at the University of North Florida, where he coached both the indoor and beach volleyball teams.

As the director of beach volleyball at UNF from 2012-17, Loeswick led the Ospreys to a 92-48 overall record and three ASUN Conference championships (2012, 2013, and 2016). UNF had a winning record in all but one season under Loeswick, including a 24-9, 7-1 record in 2016.

Loeswick also oversaw UNF's indoor volleyball team, which accumulated a 97-94 overall record in his six seasons. He led UNF to its first ASUN championship appearance in 2012, a season that also included 20 wins for the first time in the program's NCAA Division I history.

Before arriving at UNF, Loeswick served for 14 years as an assistant coach at LSU (2007-11), Oklahoma (2004-06), and Cornell (1998-2003).
