Women’s Soccer Set to Open Conference Play Versus ODU

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team is set to open Sun Belt Conference play at home versus the Old Dominion Monarchs on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk

The Chants are 3-4 on the season.
This is the first Sun Belt Conference opening match for both teams.
Freshman Emily Petring leads the team with three goals and one assist while placing tied second in the Sun Belt with two game-winning goals.
The Chants have a perfect 3-0 record when scoring first.
Lou Martinet, Cami Wiles, and Natalie Yoo have each tallied one assist this season,
CCU has posted an 8-13-2 record in Sun Belt Conference openers.

Last Time Out

The Chants scored a season-high three goals in their shutout win over Stetson
Petring got the Chants on the scoreboard in the 16th minute off an assist from Martinet.
Martinet had a stellar game bagging her first collegiate goal and assist versus the Hatters.
Wiles netted Coastal's third goal of the match in the 54th minute to secure the 3-0 win.
The Chants took 15 shots in the match and 11 hit the target.

Scouting the Opponent

ODU is undefeated on the season, posting a 5-0-2 record.
All five of ODU's wins have been shutouts.
The Monarchs' two ties came against Virginia Tech (Aug. 31) and William & Mary (Sept.3).
Thalia Morisi tops the team and places tied for fourth in the Sun Belt with three goals.
Emily Bredek has made 19 saves in goals and has kept five clean sheets on the season.

History Against

CCU has a 1-2 record versus the Monarchs.
Coastal has lost the last two matches, suffering a 4-0 shutout loss last time out in October 2022.
The Chants will look to pick up their first win at home versus the Monarchs.
CCU has been outscored 7-1 over its three encounters with ODU.
