Women’s Soccer Faces App State at Home

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will face the Appalachian State Mountaineers at the CCU Soccer Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
 
Chant Talk
  • The Chants have posted a 3-5, 0-1 Sun Belt record on the season.
  • All eight of Coastal's matches have been shutouts.
  • CCU has tallied six goals on the year, five of which have come in the second half.
  • Emily Petring has posted a stellar .800 shots on goal percentage with 12 of her 15 shots hitting the target. The freshman also leads the team in goals (3), points (7), shots (15), game-winning goals (2), and yellow cards (3).
  • Vivienne Carr leads the Sun Belt with 5.50 saves per game and is tied for third with three shutouts.
 
Last Time Out
  • The Chants dropped their Sun Belt Conference opener to the Old Dominion Monarchs 1-0 on Friday night.
  • The Monarchs scored the lone goal of the match in the 68th minute when Anessa Arndt's shot took a deflection off Maggie Mace to reach the back of the net.
  • CCU was outshot 14-6 and failed to put a shot on goal in the 90 minutes of action.
  • For the first time in the season, the Chants out fouled their opponents 12-8 but they led 5-4 in corner kicks.
 
Scouting the Opponent
  • App State has a 4-3-1, 1-0 Sun Belt record.
  • The Mountaineers won their Sun Belt Conference opener 1-0 versus the Troy Trojans on Sept. 17.
  • All four of App State's wins have been shutouts.
  • Izzi Wood leads the team and the Sun Belt with 35 shots on the year. The senior places tied for third in the SBC with four goals, three of which have been game-winners.
