CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's track and field team returns to Columbia, S.C. this weekend, starting on Fri, Jan. 19 and going through Sat, Jan. 20, for the Carolina Challenge, after featuring in the Gamecock Opener the previous weekend.
The Chants featured 30 student-athletes across 14 different events in last weekend's spring opener, with four top-10 finishes on the day. Those top finishers included junior
Amilia Wise-Sweat placing second in the women's 1000m,
Callie Wilson in fifth in women's pole vault,
Claire Spiller in sixth in the women's triple jump and
Keiran Martin in first in the final round of the women's long jump.
For this weekend's meet, CCU will send 34 athletes to compete, once again featuring last week's top 10 finishers, along with All-Sun Belt Conference cross country runners
Molly Jones and
Ellie Wolski set to compete in the women's one mile and 3000m, respectively.
The field for this weekend's meet includes in-state opponents Benedict, The Citadel, Claflin, College of Charleston, Columbia International, Converse, Furman, Lander, Limestone, North Greenville, SCAD-Savannah, host South Carolina and Winthrop, along with conference foe Georgia State.
The Carolina Challenge from Columbia, S.C. begins tomorrow morning at 10 A.M. ET, starting with the men's and women's long jump, and concludes with the women's 4x400m at 5:55 P.M. ET.
