COLUMBIA, S.C. - After a strong showing in last weekend's Gamecock Opener, the Coastal Carolina women's indoor track and field team concluded day one of the Carolina Challenge today in its return to Columbia, S.C.
The Carolina Challenge marks Coastal's second and final meet of the spring season on the campus of South Carolina, both of which have resulted in 38 total top 10 finishes thus far.
Today, the Chants featured 19 of those 38 top-10 finishes across 14 different events, including two placing atop their respective leaderboards. Among those top finishers, freshman Erin McQuitty claimed the top spot in the women's 3000m final run with a time of 10:29.99, and senior Kynnedy Dennis finished first in the women's pole vault finals at 3.67m, slightly narrowing College of Charleston's Madison Jent.
Alongside McQuitty and Dennis, some of CCU's other top finishers included junior Tiarra Smith placing second in the women's 800m, finishing with a 2:19.18 final time, senior Amelia Canetto in fourth in the women's 300m in 40.48 and junior Amanda Kinloch finishing fourth in the women's 200m, fifth in the women's 60m hurdles and third in the women's 60m hurdles finals.
The Carolina Challenge from Columbia, S.C. concludes tomorrow, starting at 12 P.M. ET with the men's and women's high jump, and finishing with the women's 4x400 at 4:30 P.M. ET.
