GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a 22-over 302 in Monday's opening round at the Qubein Cup at the Sedgfield Club in Greensboro, N.C., to finish the opening round tied for eighth place.
Owen Kim led the Chants with a three-over 73 in the opening round, while
Max Bengtsson finished his opening round with a five-over 75.
Drew Sykes,
Jack Lee and
Trey Crenshaw finished the round tied with a seven-over 77.
Trace McDonald, playing as an individual, shot a nine-over 79 in the first round.
The par-70, 7,130-yard Sedgefield Country Club showed its' toughness today as Chattanooga finished the first round with an even-par 280. Nebraska finished second with an eight-over 288 and Michigan was third with an 11-over 291. The College of Charleston was fourth with a 12-over 292, while Furman rounds out the top five with a 14-over 294.
Texas A&M and Davidson tied for sixth with a 16-over 296, while CCU is tied with UNCW and Colorado State are tied for eighth at 22-over 302. Host High Point is 11th with a 24-over 304 with Virginia Tech is 12th with a 26-over 306, followed by Penn State at 30-over 310.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m., and will see the field finish the second round before starting the final round. Live stats can be seen at
