GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team finished ninth at the Qubein Cup after shooting a 15-over 295 in Tuesday's final round in Greensboro, N.C. CCU had a final score of 57-over 897 (302-300-295) on the par-70, 7,130-yard course.
Max Bengtsson led the Chants on the course, finishing tied for 13th with an eight-over 218 (75-73-70). His even-par round in Tuesday's action was the Chants' low round of the tournament.
Owen Kim was tied for 20th after carding an 11-over 221 (73-74-74), while
Drew Sykes finished tied for 43rd with an 18-over 228 (77-77-74).
Jack Lee was tied for 53rd with a 20-over 230 (77-76-77) and
Trey Crenshaw finished tied for 71st with a 25-over 235 (77-81-77).
Trace McDonald finished his tournament playing as an individual 76th with a 29-over 239 (79-85-75).
Chattanooga held their lead over the final 18 holes to finish with a +18 858 (280-287-291), while Texas A&M moved up four spots in the third round to finish second with a 25-over 865 (296-280-289). Nebraska was third after scoring a 31-over 871 (288-287-296) with Michigan fourth at 32-over 872 (291-282-299), and Furman fifth with a 37-over 877 (294-292-291).
The College of Charleston finished sixth at 46-over 886 (292-301-293) and Davidson finished seventh with a 54-over 894 (296-297-301). UNCW was just one stroke back in eighth after posting a 55-over 895 (302-286-307), two shots in front of CCU.
The rest of the field included Colorado State (+58, 898), host High Point (+63, 903), Penn State (+73, 913), and Virginia Tech (+81, 921).
The Qubein Cup was the final match of the fall portion of the schedule. The Chants will be back in action Feb. 1-2 at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate in Statesboro, Ga., at the Georgia Southern University Golf Course.
