Gough Garners Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS. - Coastal Carolina men's soccer student-athlete Harrison Gough was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The Chants have picked up Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week after Gudjon Stefansson achieved this feat on Oct. 15.
The last time Coastal had back-to-back Player of the Week honorees was in 2021 when former Chants Danny Cabrera and Alvaro Garcia-Pascual were Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week selections.
Gough had an exceptional week in goal for the Chants, recording a shutout versus No. 3 Marshall. The sophomore made a career-high nine saves in the outing while facing 22 shots.
The 0-0 tie versus the Thundering Herd helped Gough to secure his third-straight clean sheet of the year. His other two shutouts came against Campbell and No. 8 James Madison.
Coastal will return to action on Oct. 23 to take on Old Dominion at the CCU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m. ET.
