Chants and Cougars to Meet in Midweek Match

Coastal is 12-14 at home versus CofC

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will step out of Sun Belt Conference play to welcome in-state foe College of Charleston in a midweek matchup on Oct. 29, at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. The first serve will begin at 6 p.m. ET with the match being streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES BETWEEN COASTAL AND THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
Coastal Carolina trails in the all-time series 15-30 versus the College of Charleston Cougars with the first meeting in Conway, S.C., in 1983. The Cougars won 2-0. The Chants have won the last three matches dating back to the 2014 season and own a 12-14 home record versus CofC.
 
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA
The Chanticleers enter the weekend at 8-13 overall and 4-6 in Sun Belt action after falling to Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., last weekend. Jalyn Stout has recorded 12 triple-doubles on the year just missing her 13th by one dig.
 
CCU is led by Stout, who has 255 kills, 381 assists, and 247 digs to average a triple-double. Agata Lesiak, Emily Fowler, Lauren Malone, and Emma Van Elslande aid in the offensive attack with 193, 155, 129, and 79 kills, respectively. Cagla Bengi is second on the team with 354 assists.
 
Defensively, Dilara Unal leads the team with 77 blocks while Valentina Varani has stopped 54 kills at the net. Sydney Lewis's 267 digs have helped put the offense back in attack mode.
 
ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The College of Charleston enters play with a 17-7 overall record and a 9-3 record in Colonial Athletic Association play, having dropped a pair of matches with North Carolina A&T last weekend.
 
Emily Banitt, Caitlyn Callahan, and Allie Holland lead the Cougar's attack with 296, 208, and 163 kills, respectively, while Emily Dykes (139) and Anna Smith (133) have triple-digit kills. Hannah Scott leads the team with 789 assists while Tynley Smeltzer has added 29 service aces to pace the team.
 
Callahan (112), Holland (92), and Dykes (72) have a combined 276 blocks to a defense that leads the nation in blocks with 255 total stops, while Smeltzer, Banitt, and Scott have 401, 290, and 237 digs, respectively, to get the offense started. Emma Appleman and Olivia Angell have added 187 and 140 digs.
