GRIMESLAND, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's and women's cross country teams opened the month of October with a 13th and 14th-place finish ECU Pirate Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4 at the course at Overton's at Lake Kristi.
The Chanticleer women scored 330 points in the 6K race, while the Chanticleer men garnered 395 points in the 8K run.
Addison Laughlin was Coastal's top runner in the women's race as the sophomore ran a 22:57.6 to finish 46th overall.
Amilia Wise-Sweat placed 66th with a time of 23:13.7, while
Erin McQuitty finished 71st at 23:16.3.
Jenna Lang (23:27.8) and
Olivia Goeser (23:45.5) rounded out the top five times for the Chanticleers.
Adam Groves led the Chants in the men's race with his time of 25:12.7 en route to a 63rd-place finish.
Sterling Sellier posted a time of 25:23.1 as the next runner for the Teal and Bronze, finishing 77th.
Dylan Payer ran a time of 26:01.2,
Ethan Blackwelder crossed the line at 26:11.3, and
Tomas Duncan wrapped the scoring for CCU at 26:20.9.
Coastal will close out the regular season on Oct. 18 at the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, N.C.
