Chanticleers to Host UNCG in the 2024-25 Home Opener

Brooks and Williams lead the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team returns to Conway, S.C., to host the UNCG Spartans on Wednesday. The opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at the HTC Center. Fans can catch the action on ESPN+ or HANK 105.5 FM radio.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
The Chanticleers trail the all-time series 14-9 with the 24th meeting between the two programs on the hardwood on Nov. 13. Coastal has won three of the last four meetings with the Spartans, with UNCG claiming a 65-59 home win last season.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
Coastal Carolina picked up its second win of the season with a 97-53 victory over in-state foe Charleston Southern last Sunday afternoon. Savannah Brooks and Kristin Williams led five Chants in double figures with 13 points each, while Jayden Marable, Emilia Tenbrock, and Alancia Ramsey scored 12, 12, and 11 points, respectively.
 
Once again, CCU saw all 13 players on its roster see action, with 12 players scoring two or more points. Riley Stack and Jaylen Ponder recorded eight and seven points, respectively.
 
Defensively, the Chanticleers forced 28 Buccaneer turnovers, freshman Dawson Jemerson tallied three of the CCU takeaways and Williams, Marable, and Tenbrock had two steals apiece. The Chants won the rebound battle 46-39, Coastal grabbed 32 defensive boards. Stack and Marable grabbed a team-high seven rebounds with Jemerson grabbing a career-high five rebounds, while Stack blocked three shots.
 
ABOUT UNCG
The UNCG Spartans are 2-0, having picked up both wins against teams from the Palmetto State with a 91-31 win over North Greenville and a 62-54 win over USC Upstate.
 
The Spartans are led by Makiah Asidanya with 18.0 points per game, with Jayde Gamble (12.5) and Jaila Lee (11.5) averaging double figures. Gamble leads the team with eight assists, with Tasia Johnson having helped her teammates five times. UNCG has turned the ball over 29 times as a team.
 
On the defensive side, the Spartans have forced just 48 turnovers in the two games for an average of 24.0 per contest. Gamble leads UNCG with five steals, while Lee and Nya Smith have four swipes each. The Spartans have grabbed 50 defensive rebounds, with Gamble and Kristina Rakotobe pulling down 13 and seven defensive boards, respectively.
