Men's Basketball to Host USC Upstate

Chants defeated the Spartans in OT last season

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball program will be back home to host USC Upstate, Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. ET at the HTC Center.
 
THE SERIES
 
This will be the 23rd meeting between the programs with the Chanticleers holding a 12-10 lead in the series. It has been a series of runs as the Chants won nine of the first 12 games in the series with the Spartans winning seven of the last 10.
 
The last two games of the series have come down to the final seconds as USC Upstate defeated CCU 79-78 in 2022 on a buzzer-beater three-point field goal in Spartanburg, while last season the Chants won here in Conway 72-70 in overtime.
 
ABOUT THE CHANTS
 
CCU is coming into the game with a 2-3 record and played last weekend at the Alabama A&M Bulldog Bash where CCU defeated IU Indy (71-57) in the opening game and fell to host Alabama A&M (77-70) in Saturday's action.
 
Rasheed Jones and Denzel Hines were both named to the All-Tournament Team after scoring in double figures each game.
 
Jones (13.5 ppg) and Hines (10.7 ppg) continue to lead CCU in scoring, while Hines' 7.0 rebounds per game is a team-best.
 
Noah Amenhauser is coming off his best game of the early season, picking up his first double-double with a 15-point, 12-rebound performance against Alabama A&M.
 
ABOUT USC UPSTATE
 
USC Upstate enters the game with a 2-7 record, and has lost three consecutive games. USCU's record is misleading as they average
81.8 points per game and are shooting 48.1 percent from the field.
 
The Spartans have five players averaging over nine points per game led by Mister Dean's 18.0 scoring average. He is shooing 68.6
percent from the field and is the team's leading rebounder averaging 6.4 per game. He also leads the team in steals (13) and blocked
shots (5).
 
Britt Harris and Karmani Gregory are both averaging 11.2 points per game with Harris shooting 92.0 percent at the free throw line
and is second on the team in steals (12) and assists (32), while Gregory is the team-leader in assists with 35.
 
Carmelo Adkins averages 9.9 points per game and Breylin Garcia averages 9.1.
