CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will open the 2024-25 season on the road in Mount Pleasant, Mich., on Monday, Nov. 4, as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The Chanticleers will take on Central Michigan with the opening tip scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at the McGuirk Arena.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND CENTRAL MICHIGAN
This is the second meeting between the two programs on the hardwood. CMU defeated Coastal 96-42 in the only meeting on Dec. 3, 2010.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
CCU closed the 2023-24 season with a 12-21 overall record and 5-13 in the Sun Belt Conference as the Chanticleers averaged 66.6 points per game while shooting 39.9 percent from the floor, including 27.8 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Coastal allowed 71.4 points per game and held its opponents to 40.2 shooting percentage from the floor and 32.7 from behind the three-point arch. The Chanticleers and opponents were nearly even in the rebound battle as they outrebounded their opponents 40.5 to 39.0 rebounds per contest. The Chants were picked to finish ninth in the SBC Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
Coastal returns four players who saw action from last season, 
Dalanna Carter, 
Anaya Barney, 
Alancia Ramsey, and 
Riley Stack, who averaged 5.1, 2.8, 9.4, and 3.2 points per game, respectively. Also returning is 
Jaylen Ponder, who returns after sitting out last season.

Emilia Tenbrock, 
Jaidyn Koerdt, and 
Jayden Marable with a pair of freshmen 
Dawson Jemerson and

ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Central Michigan Chippewas return four players from the 2023-24 team that finished last season with a 6-22 record and 4-14 in the Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas' top returning scorer is Taylor Anderson with 7.1 points per game with Lisa Tesson right behind Anderson with 4.4 points per game. CMU added five freshmen and five transfers for the 2024-25 roster.
 
As a team, the Chippewas averaged 61.5 points per game while allowing 71.7 points per game and being outshot by their opponent's 38.6 percent to 40.5 percent from the floor. Central Michigan averaged 42.3 rebounds per game while surrendering 36.6 boards per contest.
