Chants Wrap Up Home Schedule with Texas State

Stout was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for a second time this season

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team returns to Sun Belt Conference play to welcome Georgia Southern on Nov. 1-2, at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. The first serve will begin at 6 p.m. ET on Friday and 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, with both matches being streamed on ESPN+.

WEEKLY HONORS
Jalyn Stout was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances last week in leading the Chanticleers to a 3-0 record. It is the second conference honor of the year for the 5-10 setter from Gainesville, Fla. Stout has recorded an NCAA record 15 triple-doubles this year, breaking her mark set last season as a true freshman.
 
SERIES BETWEEN COASTAL AND TEXAS STATE
Coastal Carolina trails in the all-time series 10-4 against the Texas State Bobcats, with the two teams' first meeting in 2016 when the Chants joined the Sun Belt. The Chanticleers and Bobcats split last season in San Marcos, Texas.
 
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA
The Chanticleers enter the weekend at 11-13 overall and 6-6 in Sun Belt action after a pair of 3-1 wins over the SBC East Division leader Georgia Southern last weekend.
 
CCU is led by Stout, who has 301 kills, 435 assists, and 297 digs to average a triple-double. Agata Lesiak, Emily Fowler, Lauren Malone, and Emma Van Elslande aid the offensive attack with 216, 180, 149, and 105 kills, respectively. Cagla Bengi is second on the team with 354 assists, while Ava Wallis has 105 helpers.
 
Defensively, Dilara Unal leads the team with 87 blocks, while Valentina Varani (54) and Lesiak (53) have combined for 107 stops at the net. Sydney Lewis's 305 digs have helped put the offense back in attack mode.
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Texas State Bobcats enter play with a 15-8 overall record and a 9-3 record in league play, having swept Southern Miss 3-0 and 3-0 last weekend.
 
Samantha Wunsch, MJ McCurdy, and Bailey Hanner lead the Bobcats' attack with 296, 225, and 172 kills, respectively, while Jade Defraeye (138) has triple-digit kills. Ryann Torres leads the team with 818 assists while McCurdy has added 18 service aces to pace the team.
 
Defraeye (97), Hanner (71), and Wunsch (70) have stopped 70 or more kill attempts with Torres and McCurdy adding 37 and 27 blocks, respectively. Alyssa Ortega has 341 digs to get the offense started, while Torres (176), McCurdy (172), Alyssa Clark (135), and Maggie Walsh (127) have triple-digit digs.
