CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University football head coach
Tim Beck named Drew Hollingshead as the Chanticleers offensive coordinator.
Hollingshead, an air-raid disciple of legendary coach Mike Leach, spent the past two seasons helping lead the high-powered Western Kentucky offense as co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. He coached at the power five level for seven seasons, including three in the Southeastern Conference.
"We are excited to bring in an outstanding young coach in Drew Hollingshead as our offensive coordinator and play caller," Beck said. "Drew has a strong coaching pedigree and has learned from some of the best coaches in college football. We are proud to welcome him and his wife Brittany to our Coastal family."

NOTING COACH HOLLINGSHEAD
- Coached 2024 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year Caden Veltkamp who threw for 3,108 yards and 25 touchdowns while completing 66 percent of his passes in 11 starts.
- WKU finished 2023 with the top passing offense across CUSA and No. 15 in the NCAA FBS with 296.4 yards per game through the air and 38 passing touchdowns. The Tops were second in the league in scoring with 30.5 points per game and 50 offensive touchdowns. WKU led CUSA and was No. 5 nationally in red zone offense, No. 3 in the league in total offense and Honorable Mention All-CUSA signal caller Austin Reed led the league in completions per game and was seventh nationally in passing scores.
- Named to the 2023 American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Class
- Spent three years in the SEC at Mississippi State — two as an offensive quality control assistant and his final season as inside receivers coach.
- Helped the Bulldogs finish 10th in the country in passing in 2022 and fourth in the country in 2021. He also helped MSU QB Will Rogers finish third in the FBS in passing yards in 2021 and 10th in the nation in 2022.
- Was at Washington State from 2016-20 as an offensive graduate assistant and offensive quality control assistant where he worked with QB Gardner Minshew. Minshew finished as the nation's second-leading passer with 4,779 yards in 2018 and was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft.
- Before coaching Minshew, Hollingshead helped mentor QB Luke Falk, who set the record for wins at WSU with 27. Falk also set Pac-12 Conference records and WSU records in passing yards (14,486), total offense (14,086), passing touchdowns (119), pass completions (357), pass attempts (534) and total plays (2,306).
- Coached at Texas A&M Commerce from 2013-14, serving as an offensive quality control coach and later quarterbacks coach. Commence's 2014 total of 54.1 ppg led all of college football in scoring offense.
- Started his coaching career at Hyde Park Baptist High School in Austin, Texas, in 2012 and completed an internship with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League in 2013.
- Native of Rockwall, Texas, played quarterback at the University of Houston from 2009-2012 where he was coached by Kliff Kingsbury and earned his sport administration degree in three years.
