CCU Picks Up Road Win at Campbell 58-57

Amenhauser picks up career-high 20 points in the win

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Noah Amenhauser scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds, as Coastal Carolina picked up a 58-57 win at Campbell, Wednesday night in the Gore Arena in Buies Creek, N.C.

The Chants led by nine at halftime, but the Camels came out and was able to get back in the game by making 12-of-17 free throws in the second half and knocked down four of their five three-point field goals.

The Chants (4-4) finished the game shooting 45.8 percent from the field while holding the home-standing Camels to 32.0 percent. CCU came into the game as the nation's second-best three-point defensive team and that showed again tonight holding the Camels to 22.7 percent (5-22).

Rasheed Jones also reached double figures with 10 points, but missed most of the first half after picking up two quick fouls.

CCU out rebounded Campbell 38-33 with Denzel Hines grabbing a team and game-high eight boards while Jones joined Amenhauser with six. Jones also had five of the Chanticleers' 17 assists and chipped in with two steals.

Terren Frank led the Camels with 20 points, while Cam Gregory added 14 and Colby Duggan came off the bench to add 13 as Campbell moves to 4-5.

The Chants used a 17-0 run to lead 19-3 with over six minutes left in the first half and finished the opening 20 minutes with a 26-17 lead. A lead that saw the Chants shoot 50 percent from the field and 50 percent on their three-point attempts. The lead could have been even larger but CCU only knocked down three of their 11 free throw attempts.

Amenhauser led the way with 10 first-half points and Naz Brown had five.

Gregory finished the first half with seven points for the Camels as the home team struggled finding the bottom of the net from the field only shooting 16 percent. Campbell was able to get back in the game by knocking down eight of their 10 free throws.

CCU will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 7, at long-time rival Winthrop. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
