Men's Basketball Falls at James Madison

Meyer scores a game and career-high 20 for the Chants

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Jacob Meyer scored a game and career-high 20 points, but it was not enough as Coastal Carolina fell to James Madison 105-67 Thursday night at the Atlantic Union Bank Center in Sun Belt Conference men's basketball action.

Meyer scored the opening points of the game but JMU scored the next 10 points and never slowed down in pulling away for the victory. He scored his points on eight-of-13 shooting, including knocking down three of his five three-point attempts and his only free throw.

Kylan Blackmon came off the bench to score 14 points, while John Ojiako finished the game with nine points  and a team-high six rebounds as the Chants move to 6-15 overall and 3-7 in Sun Belt play.

The Chanticleers finished the game shooting a solid 47.2 percent (25-53) from the field and 31.6 percent (6-16) on its three-point attempts. CCU hit 11 of its 13 free throws for 84.6 percent.

JMU had four players in double-digits led by T.J. Bickerstaff's 19 points, which all came in the opening half as JMU led 52-34 at the break.

Noah Friedel only missed one shot from the field in scoring 17 points. He was four-of-five on his three-point attempts. Terrence Edwards added 16, while Jaylen Cary came off the JMU bench to score 14 points.

JMU finished the game shooting 60.3 percent (41-68) from the field and 43.3 percent (13-30) from beyond the three-point line while moving to  19-3 overall and 7-3 in conference action.

Coastal continues the current road trip as they face Marshall in Huntington, W.V. on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. ET.
