Women's Basketball to Meet James Madison Saturday Afternoon

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina continues its four-game road trip on Saturday as the Chanticleers visit James Madison. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.


LAST TIME OUT
Coastal Carolina remained within striking distance for most of Wednesday night against Old Dominion but fell victim to an untimely 8-0 run in the fourth quarter as the Chants suffered a 65-58 setback. Arin Freeman led all scorers with 21 points while Anaya Barney added 10 points. Alancia Ramsey finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds. Riley Stack tied a career-high with five blocks and added six points
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND JAMES MADISON
Coastal Carolina and James Madison are meeting for the fourth time. JMU currently leads the overall series 2-1, with Coastal winning the last meeting on Jan. 26, 2023. 

ABOUT COASTAL
The Chanticleers enter Wednesday's game with an 8-18 overall record and a 2-11 record in Sun Belt play. The Chants rank eighth nationally and lead the Sun Belt Conference with 23.2 free-throw attempts per game. Coastal also averages 15.2 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the conference and 17th in the nation. The Chanticleers are second in the league with 3.5 blocks per contest.
 
Ramsey is currently 25th in the nation and second in the Sun Belt with 3.8 offensive rebounds per game. Stack, the first Coastal freshman with multiple games with at least five blocks since 2016-17, leads the league with 41 total blocks and 1.6 blocks per game. Makaila Cange enters Saturday averaging 12.5 points per game and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per contest.
 
ABOUT JAMES MADISON
James Madison is 17-9 overall and owns a 9-4 record in league play. The Dukes are one of best rebounding teams in the nation, ranking fifth nationally in rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game, while ranking ninth in the nation in rebounding margin and leading the Sun Belt in all three categories. JMU's 27.5 bench points per game lead the conference and are good for 12th nationally. Defensively, the Dukes lead the league by holding opponents to just 37.1 percent shooting but are last in the Sun Belt with just 12.4 turnovers forced per game.
 
Kseniia Kozlova ranks ninth in the nation in field goal percentage, leading the league at 61.9 percent shooting. Peyton McDaniel is JMU's leading scorer, averaging 14.0 points per contest.
