Men's Basketball Falls at Georgia State on Late Three

Meyer scores a career-high 23 in the loss

ATLANTA, Ga. – Jacob Meyer scored a game and career-high 23 points, but it was not enough as Coastal Carolina fell at Georgia State 72-71 Wednesday night at the GSU Convocation Center in Sun Belt Conference men's basketball action.

With the score tied at 69 with 10 seconds left in the game, Meyer drove the lane and hit a 15-foot jump shot to put the Chants up 71-69, but the Panthers' Toneari Lane hit a three-point field goal with less than two seconds left to give the Panthers the one-point win.

Neither team shot the ball very well as CCU shot 39.1 percent from the field and GSU shot 36.2 percent from the floor. Both teams hit 25 field goals and both teams hit 14 free throws, the lone difference was the one extra three-point field goal GSU hit (8) to the Chant's seven.

Kylan Blackmon hit three three-point field goals and finished with 11 points and Kevin Easley came off the bench to finish with 10 points as CCU moved to 8-18 overall and 5-10 in Sun Belt Conference action.

John Ojiako only played 19 minutes due to foul trouble and finished the game with seven points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Behind Ojiako, the Chants out-rebounded the Panthers 54-31.

Lane hit a game-high four three-point field goals, including the game-winner, to led GSU with 16 points. Lucas Taylor added 15 and Dwon Odom scored 14 to go along with seven assists. Brenden Tucker came off the bench to score 12 points as Georgia State moves to 13-14 overall and 7-8 in conference action.

Coastal continues the current road trip as they face Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
