Women’s Basketball to Host the Bobcats

Richardson leads the offense with 14.7 points per game

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina will host the Texas State Bobcats at the HTC Center on Wednesday, Feb. 7 with the tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. ET


LAST TIME OUT
CCU fell 80-70 to the Appalachian State Mountaineers last Saturday. Arin Freeman led four Chants in double digit scoring with 25 points, while Makaila Cange, Alancia Ramsey, and Deaja Richardson finished with 17, 12, and 10 points, respectively. Cange was the team's leading rebounder with 10 boards, while Ramsey grabbed nine rebounds.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND TEXAS STATE
Coastal Carolina and the Bobcats will be meeting for the 11th time. The all-time series is even at 5-5 with the Texas State picking up a 64-59 road win last season. The series began 2016-17 when the Chanticleers joined the Sun Belt Conference.

Coastal Carolina enters the matchup 8-16 overall and 2-9 in Sun Belt play. The Chants are averaging 67.4 points per game while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Coastal has allowed 73.8 points per game, while opponents have a 40.9 shooting percentage from the floor and 33.3 percentage from behind the three-point arc. The Chanticleers have outrebounded their opponents 989-940.
 
Coastal is led by Richardson, Cange, and Freeman who average 14.7, 13.0, and 13.0 points per game, respectively, while Ramsey (9.3) is averaging just over nine points per contest. Cange and Ramsey have averaged 8.2 and 7.6 rebounds per game.
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Texas State enters the week 11-12 overall and 2-9 in the league. As a team, the Bobcats are averaging 65.3 points per contest while shooting 39.8 percent from the floor and 32.3 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Texas State has allowed just 61.1 points per contest and its opponents to shoot 40.5 percent from the field and 26.5 percent from behind the arch.
 
Ja'Niah Henson and Timia Jefferson lead the Bobcats in double digit scoring with 14.7 and 11.9 points per game, respectively. The Bobcats' Tiffany Tullis leads the team with 6.8 boards per game.
