CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team hosted the Queens University of Charlotte Royals today at the Stevens Tennis Complex in a down to the wire 4-3 loss. 

The Chants dropped two of the three opening doubles matches, resulting in an early 1-0 deficit heading into doubles play. No. 1 doubles pairing Carlos Berna Ruiz and Lucas Wayenburg's four-match win streak was snapped after a 6-3 defeat against the Royals' Connor Enslin and Win Steveker. Jesus Garcia and Guilherme Toresan leveled the Chants at one, taking down Arenui Luethi and Flippo Verdese 6-3.  

In the opening round's final match, seniors Ryuya Ata and Maj Tomac took their pair of Royals opposition to the set's final point, but ultimately fell 7-6 (3), securing the doubles point for Queens. 

In singles play, Coastal nearly swung the match back in their favor, claiming three of the six individual matches, including the first career victory for newcomer Juan Cruz Collardin. Garcia also added another singles win to his season tally, but it was not enough to bring the Chants back from their early deficit, losing 4-3. 

CCU will continue its four-game homestand with a meeting with the UNC Greensboro Spartans on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Stevens Tennis Complex, starting at 2 P.M. ET.
