Track and Field Plays Host for Second Straight Weekend at Alan Connie Invtational

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field teams plays host to its second straight meet this weekend at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Mar. 14-16.
Last weekend, the Chants hosted the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge, also featuring at Doug Shaw Stadium, where CCU produced 12 top-place finishes on the opening day. Sophomore AJ McKay Jr. led the way in overall MVP points with a first-place finish in the men's triple jump and a second in the long jump with 14.32m and 6.88m respective distances. Freshman Ebba Hedberg finished third in the MVP race with a third-place finish in the women's high jump, a fourth placement in the 100m hurdles and a pair of fifth-place finishes in the javelin throw and 4x200m.
Including Coastal, this weekend's meet features a field of 44 participating schools, including the Gamecocks of South Carolina, as well as six other in-state universities.
Day one of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational starts on Thursday, Mar. 16 at 9 A.M. ET with the Decathlon 110mHH event.
