AWENDEW, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a seven-over 295 to finish eighth after the opening round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, played at Bulls Bay Golf Club Monday in Awendaw, S.C.
Jack Lee (36-37)and
Trace McDonald (37-36) led the Chants on the opening day as each fired a one-over 73. Lee's round included an eagle on the par-5, 608-yard sixth hole. They will begin Monday's second round tied for 22nd.
Trey Crenshaw shot a two-over 74 (39-35) and is tied for 31st, while
Seth Taylor is tied for 42nd after shooting a three-over 75 (38-37), and
Garrett Cooper is tied for 56th with a four-over 76 (40-36).
LSU leads the 15-team field finishing the open round with a four-under 284. New Mexico is next after carding a two-under 286. South Carolina and East Tennessee State are tied for third after each fired a one-under 287, while West Virginia is fifth with an even-par 288.
The College of Charleston is sixth with a three-over 291, while Marquette is just one shot in front of the Chants with a six-over 294. Purdue is ninth at 10-over 298. Furman, Missouri, and Kent State are all tied for 10th with an 11-over 299, while North Carolina State and Kentucky are tied for 13th with a 12-over 300. Toledo completes the field with a 16-over 304.
