PONTE VEDRA, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a 19-over 307 to finish 12th in the opening round of The Hayt at the Sawgrass Country Club Saturday in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
Seth Taylor was the leads for the Chants finishing the first round tied for 15th with a one-over 73 (35-38).
Garrett Cooper was just one shot behind Taylor with a two-over 74 (38-36). He is tied for 25th heading into tomorrow's second round.
Jack Lee is tied for 41
st after a first-round score of four-over 76 (41-35). Meanwhile
Ludvig Eriksson is 83rd after a 12-over 84 (43-41) and
Owen Kim is 84th at 15-over 87 (44-43).
Trey Crenshaw is playing the event as an individual and he is tied for 49th after firing a five-over 77 (41-36).
Alabama leads the event after the first round with a six-under 282. Ohio State joins the Tide as the only two teams to finish under par as their two-under 286 has them in second place. North Carolina, at one-over 289 is third with Virginia (+6, 294) and Louisville (+7, 295) rounding out the top five.
Liberty is sixth at nine-over 297, followed by Jacksonville at 12-over 300. Central Florida and North Florida are tied for eighth at 13-over 301 and South Florida is 10th with a 15-over 303.
Duke (+17, 305) is just two shots in front of the Chants who are followed by UTSA (+20, 308) and Charlotte (+23, 311).
