CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team is set to face the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series on April 12-14 at St. John Stadium.
 
LAST TIME OUT

• The Chants shut out the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 10-0 and 7-0 in their doubleheader on Wednesday.
• CCU now has 13 shutouts on the season which ranks them tied for seventh in the NCAA.
• Georgia Hood recorded a team-high six RBI versus the Buccaneers in game one after hitting Coastal's fifth grand slam of the year while adding an RBI double, and a bases-loaded walk.
• Ava Hampton belted two home runs on Wednesday and is now on a three-game home run hitting streak.
• Raelee Brabham picked up her 18th win in the circle which ranks her third in the nation in victories.
• Delaney Keith hit her fourth RBI double of the season in the Chants' second win over CSU.

 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

• App State has a 15-19 overall record and has gone 3-9 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• After opening conference play with a sweep over Georgia State, the Mountaineers have lost nine straight conference games to No. 19 Texas State, No. 23 Louisiana, and South Alabama.
• Both Grace Barrett and Kayt Houston have earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors this season.
• Four Mountaineers are batting above .300 and Kayt Houston leads the team with a .436 batting average and 48 hits on the season.
• Peyton Darnell tops the team with 32 RBIs and eight home runs on the year.
• The pitching staff has combined for 157 strikeouts and Sejal Neas leads the team with a 3.28 ERA.
• Head coach Shelly Hoerner is seven wins away from 700 career victories.

 
HISTORY AGAINST

• CCU has a 23-8 overall record versus App State.
• The Mountaineers snapped Coastal's eight-game winning streak, the longest in the series, last May.
• Coastal has an 8-2 record over the last 10 matchups.
• The Chants will look to add to their 15-5 home record against App State.
• The first matchup against the Mountaineers was in March 2002 with the Chants earning a 3-2 victory.
• CCU's largest margin of victory against App State was 14-3 which happened on March 22, 2002.
• Coastal has a perfect 6-0 series record versus the Mountaineers.
