RALEIGH, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a 36-over 604 (301-303) to finish ninth after two rounds at the Wolfpack Stitch Intercollegiate, Friday, at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
Trey Crenshaw is the team-leader for CCU finishing tied for 10th after two rounds with a four-over 146 (74-72). His highlight of the round was an eagle three on the par 5 first hole in the opening round. He is one of six golfers that recorded an eagle over the first two rounds in Friday's action.
With the help of his eagle, Crenshaw is tied for the lead in par 5 scoring with a 4.50 scoring average.
Freshman
Jack Lee is tied for 29th entering Saturday's final round after carding an eight-over 150 (74-76), while
Trace McDonald finished the day tied for 53rd with a 14-over 156 (75-81).
Seth Taylor (81-76),
Garrett Cooper (78-79), and
Owen Kim (78-79) finished tied for 57th after each shot a 15-over 157.
High winds made for a hard day on the course, as none of the teams finished par or better. The leaderboard is crowded, as only 14 shots separate the top seven teams.
Host North Carolina State leads the event after shooting a 13-over 581, with UNCG just two shots back at 15-over 583. Georgia Southern is third at 19-over 587, while High Point at 20-over 588 and Duke with a 22-over 590 round out the top five.
Boston College is sixth at 26-over 594, just one stroke in front of VCU at 27-over 595. Kent State is eighth at 34-over 602, just two strokes in front of the Chants. The rest of the field includes Oral Roberts (+40, 608), Navy (+67, 635), and North Carolina Central (+75, 643).
