GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Gainsville, Fla. for the Tom Jones Invitational at James G. Pressly at the Percy Beard Track on the campus of the University of Florida.
The women's team finished the two-day meet with four placements inside the top-10 of their respective events, including Ebba Hedberg, Camryn Lorick and Meg Goebel each finishing in the top eight of the women's high jump, and sophomore Claire Spiller claiming third in the women's triple jump with a personal best final distance of 12.66m.
On the men's side, freshman Adam Groves recorded the highest finish of the invitational for the Chants with a first-place finish in the men's 5000m event with a time of 14:38.85. Senior Nehemiah Cionelo placed second in the same competition with a final time of 14:42.23.
Senior Brendan Kovar and freshman Elliot Grayson recorded the other top-10 placements for this weekend's meet, with Kovar finishing fourth in the men's 47:34 and Grayson finishing 10th in the men's high jump 1.99m final mark.
Next up for the Chants is a final trip to Columbia, S.C. for the USC Open at the Cregger Track on Saturday, Apr. 20.
