Women's Golf Heads to Alabama for the 2024 Sun Belt Championship

Chants looking for third SBC title
CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team will be making the trip to Point Clear, Ala., for the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship, scheduled for April 15-17 at the Lakewood Golf Club.
The Chants are looking for their third conference championship (2018, 2021) since joining the Sun Belt Conference in July 2016. CCU last won the title in 2021 and just missed out on the 2022 title, finishing just four strokes off the lead and in second place.
Georgia Southern (54th) enters the championship as the top-ranked Sun Belt Conference team in the latest SCOREBOARD rankings, followed by Texas State (65th), James Madison (94th) and CCU (99th).
The Chants will enter the championship with seven top-10 finishes out of the nine events this season, including three top-three finishes. CCU won the Sea Best Invitational, finished second at the Rivertowne Invitational and picked up a third-place finish at The Southern.
Graduate transfer Hannah Karg has led the Chants this season with a 72.57 scoring average. She has picked up three Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week honors and was the Individual Medalist at The Southern and at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Invitational in CCU's last outing. She added a second-place tie at the Rivertowne Invitational.
Freshman Varatkarn Kunkaew has a 73.73 scoring average over the course of the season. She finished third at the Sea Best Invitational, recorded an eighth-place finish at the Hurricane Invitational and finished ninth at the Rivertowne Invitational.
Other players making the trip for the championship are Sara Sarrion with her 74.38 scoring average and Luisa Gibson, who has a 76.26 scoring average. Isabella Spinazze (81.91) will also make the trip to Alabama.
The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. ET on Monday, April 15, and will consist of 18 holes of action each day of the event.
