CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team walked off the Georgia State Panthers 9-1 on Friday evening at St. John Stadium.
With the win, the Chants improve to 30-19, 10-9 Sun Belt, while Georgia State falls to 11-36 and 1-18 in league play.
Sophomore Delaney Keith kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when she crushed a three-run home run over the centerfield wall to give the Chants a 3-0 lead.
Georgia State tallied one run back in the top of the fourth inning when Kiki Edwards cracked an RBI single to left field to make the score 3-1.
In the bottom of the fourth inning Keith belted her second home run of the game over the right-center field wall to extend Coastal's lead to 5-1. CCU added two more runs in the inning on a walk and a Lucy Goodwin single to put the Chants up 7-1.
Coastal closed out the game in the bottom of the fifth frame when Iyanla De Jesus ripped a two-run double to centerfield to secure the 9-1 walk-off win.
Raelee Brabham improved to 22-8 on the circle, allowing one run and five hits while striking out seven batters to claim her tenth complete game of the year.
The Chanticleers will be back in action tomorrow to take on the Panthers at the Bark at the Park. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. ET.
