CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball program will add UNC Asheville transfer
Mallory Bruce to the 2024-25 roster as announced by Chanticleer head coach
Kevin Pederson.
"We recruited and developed a great relationship with Mallory and her family when she was at Travelers Rest High School. Mallory is a strong guard that plays the physical and aggressive style of basketball that we want Coastal WBB to be known for," stated Pederson. "She's a student-athlete that is going to give you everything she's got on the court and in the classroom and we believe she will make an immediate impact on this team."
The 5-11 guard made 63 starts in three seasons for the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, averaging 7.3 points per game while grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game and notching 52 career steals in 93 games. Bruce has scored 677 career points while shooting 38 percent from the field and grabbing 379 rebounds.
The Greenville, S.C., native has scored in double digits 25 times, including a career-high 28 points in a Big South Conference game last season versus Gardner-Webb on 10-of-15 shooting with an assist and two blocked shots. On February 10, 2024, against USC Upstate, Mallory made four three-pointers and scored 21 points in 34 minutes of action.
Bruce averaged 24.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game in her senior season at Travelers Rest High School. She was named All-Region and Offensive Player of the Year twice along with All-State honors. Bruce was tabbed the Region 1-4A Player of the Year and South Carolina Upstate Player of the Year. She owns the record for most points in a game (45) at Travelers Rest. Aside from basketball, Bruce was named a two-time All-Region player in volleyball.
