GREENSBRO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team dropped its first road contest of the year 1-0 to the UNCG Spartans on Sunday evening.

CCU falls to 0-2-0 on the year and UNCG improves to 2-0-0.

The Spartans were first to strike in the third minute when Enzo Dovlo smashed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net off an assist from Mikey Ketteman to give UNCG a 1-0 lead.

UNCG looked to extend its lead in the 17^th minute when Basile Marc put a shot on goal but Coastal keeper Tristan Himes made an excellent reaction save to hold the score at 1-0.

The Spartans continued to press the Coastal defense in the final five minutes of the half when Colton Sessons and Arnaud Tattevin each put shots on goal, forcing Himes to make two critical saves to keep the deficit to one.

At half time, UNCG led 6-1 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks.

It was an even battle in the opening 25 minutes of the second frame with neither team taking a single shot.

CCU lead 3-2 in shots in the remaining 20 minutes of the match with Robert Valdimarsson having an equalizing opportunity in the final minute, but it was met by the hands of the UNCG keeper to secure the 1-0 victory.

The Chants will return to the new CCU Soccer Complex on to take Elon on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. ET.
