PARIS – Former Coastal Carolina track & field star Melissa Jefferson etched her name in the record books on Saturday afternoon by winning the Bronze medal in the women's 100m at the Olympic Games.
Jefferson, who advanced to the final with a win in the first semifinal earlier on Saturday, saved her best performance for last as she clocked a 10.92 in the medal race. The Georgetown, S.C., native finished behind fellow American Sha'Carri Richardson (10.87) and Saint Lucia's Julian Alfred (10.72).
Jefferson now adds an Olympic medal in her first Olympic games to a resume that includes eight Sun Belt championships, an NCAA national championship, a U.S. Track & Field National title, and a World championship.
