CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team kicked off the fall season by totaling four wins at the UNCG Hidden Duals in Greensboro, N.C., on Friday afternoon.
Day one consisted solely of doubles matches with the Chants picking up two wins over Richmond and two over Sun Belt Conference foe James Madison.
Iannis Fernandes and
Curzio Manucci went undefeated on day one, picking up a 6-1 win at the No. 3 flight over Richmond and a 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot versus JMU.
The pair of
Rivers Cahill and
Christopher Norlin started the day strong, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Richmond at the No. 4 spot, but had their second match cut shot while trailing 5-4 to JMU due to inclement weather.
Coastal's
Juan Cruz Collardin and
Eric Tripathi were topped by the Spiders' duo, 6-2, at the No. 2 flight, but bounced back to secure a 6-4 victory over JMU in the No. 4 hole.
Playing at the No. 1 spot,
Jack Dixon and
Emiliano Gonzalez Balmaceda had a tough day, falling to Richmond, 6-3, and the JMU Dukes, 6-4.
The Chants will return to action tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET at the UNCG Tennis Courts in Greensboro, N.C.
