WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a five-under 275 in Monday's second round at the JT Poston Invitational at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club in Waynesville, N.C., moving the Chants into second with a six-under 554 (279-275).
Drew Sykes continues to pace the Chants on the leaderboard after carding a two-round total of four-under 136 (69-67) and is tied for fifth heading into the final round. Another first-time Chant,
Max Bengtsson continues his solid play finishing the round tied for eighth with a two-under 138 (69-69).
Trey Crenshaw is tied for 20th at one-over 141 (71-70), while
Jack Lee (73-69) and
Colin Ferguson (71-71) are tied for 28th at two-over 142.
Owen Kim is tied for 41st at four-over 144 (70-74).
Lipscomb pulled away in Monday's round and continues to lead the event at 17-under 543 (274-269). Following CCU are James Madison (281-276), Kennesaw State (282-275), and Xavier (282-275) all tied for third at three-under 557.
Host Western Carolina stands sixth with a three-over 563 (282-281) with Drexel just one shot back in seventh with a four-over 564 (280-284). Eastern Kentucky is eighth at five-over 565 (278-287), followed by Georgia State at 14-over 574 (287-287), and Georgia Southern at 15-over 575 (288-287).
The rest of the field includes Wofford (+18, 578), Mercer (+21, 581), Francis Marion (+22, 582), UTRGV (+26, 586), and Charleston Southern (+36, 596).
