Chants Set to Face James Madison Thursday

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will welcome the James Madison Dukes on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. ET.

CCU has a 4-3-3, 0-0-1 record on the season.
The Chants are looking for their first Sun Belt Conference win since beating ULM on October 27, 2022.
Julia Ziegenfuss scored her first goal of the season versus back-to-back reigning SBC tournament champion Old Dominion. The junior's last goal came in Coastal's 2-2 tie versus Troy in October 2023.
Vivienne Carr matched her career-high 10 saves versus the Monarchs last Friday.
The Chants have a 4-0-2 record when scoring one or more goals.

Last Time Out

The Chants battled to a 1-1 tie versus ODU.
Ziegenfuss gave the Chants a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute when she slotted the ball into the bottom right corner off assists from Tamlyn Parkes and Olivia Goretski.
Parkes now ties for first on the team with two assists while Goretski recorded her first career assist.
In the 82nd minute, ODU leveled the score when Yulia Khrystiuk crossed the ball into the back post to find the outstretched foot of Brooke Edwards, who found the back of the net.
CCU was outshot 28-4 in the outing and out-fouled its opponent for the first time in this season, 8-2.

Scouting the Opponent

JMU owns a 3-3-2, 1-0-0 Sun Belt record on the year.
The Dukes opened Sun Belt Conference play with a 7-2 victory over Southern Miss.
JMU's seven goals versus Southern Miss was the most scored in a single match under head coach Joshua Walters Sr.
The Dukes have also picked up wins over Vilanova (3-0) and East Carolina (2-0)
Freshman Ginny Lackey tops the team with four goals.
Redshirt senior Lexi Vanderlinden leads the team and is tied for first in the Sun Belt with four assists.
JMU is one of four teams to have opened Sun Belt Conference play with a win. Appalachian State, ULM, and South Alabama have also achieved this feat.

History Against

CCU has a 0-2-0 record versus James Madison.
The Chants will be looking to pick up their first home win versus the Dukes.
Coastal has suffered two shutout losses to JMU.
CCU has never given up more than one goal in a match versus the Dukes.
The first matchup was in September 2022 when JMU joined the Sun Belt from the CAA.
