Men's Golf Tied for Second at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate

Kim shoots a four-under 68 in the opening round

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team is tied for second place at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate after firing an eight-under 280 in Sunday's round at the Grande Dunes Golf Resort Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
 
Owen Kim led the Chants with a four-under 68 (35-33) in the Sunday's round recording six birdies and a double bogey and is tied for third heading into Monday's second round. Kim was tied for fourth in par three scoring with a 2.75 scoring average and his 3.90 average on the par four holes was tied for sixth, while his six birdies was tied for second.
 
Drew Sykes and Max Brud were playing in their first tournament as Chanticleers and each had impressive rounds with Sykes shooting a three-under 69 (34-35), carding three birdies and 15 pars, and Brud finishing with a one-under 71 (35-36). Sykes was tied for first with a 3.80 scoring average on the par four holes while, Brud's 15 pars tied for the first-round lead. Sykes is tied for fifth and Brud moves into the second round tied for 17th.
 
Trey Crenshaw (36-36) and Coleman Ferguson (37-35) each finished at even-par 72 and are tied for 27th. Crenshaw also finished his round with six birdies, which is tied for the second-most in the opening round.
 
The Chants had four golfers playing as individuals with Max Bengtsson leading that group tied for 17th after carding a one-under 71 (36-35). Jack Lee (35-37) and Trace McDonald (34-38) are tied for 27th after shooting even-pars, and Ludvig Eriksson (40-40=80) is tied for 83rd. Lee's 3.80 scoring on the par four holes was tied for first.
 
Santa Clara leads the inaugural Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate just one stroke in front of Coastal and Campbell with a nine-under 279. Elon is fourth with a six-under 282 followed by Texas El Paso with a three-under 285.
 
East Carolina stands sixth at one-under 287 and Maryland is seventh at even-par 288. Texas State (+3, 291), Western Carolina (+4, 292) and Jacksonville (+5, 293) round out the top ten.
 
The rest of the field includes Florida Atlantic (+9, 297), James Madison (+10, 298), Old Dominion (+13, 301), and Appalachian State (+17, 305).
 
Monday's second round is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. ET, with the Chants teeing off at 9:40 a.m. ET. Live stats can be followed on Golfstat with a link at www.goccusports.com.
