LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team finished tied for fourth at the Everett Buick GMC Classic on Tuesday, carding a 10-under 854 (283-282-289). The result marked the Chanticleers' third top-four finish in four fall tournaments.
Sophomore
Drew Sykes led the Chants with an 11th-place finish at 5-under 211, highlighted by a 2-under 70 in Tuesday's final round at the par-72, 7,135-yard Chenal Country Club. Sykes opened with rounds of 69 and 72 on Monday to pace the Coastal lineup.
Max Bengtsson and
Jack Lee each finished at 3-under 213 after both posted even-par 72s in the final round. Lee carded five birdies on the day, while Bengtsson sank three birdie putts as the pair tied for 22nd overall.
Coleman Ferguson followed one stroke back at 2-under 214 (71-74-69), closing with a 3-under 69 to move into 25th place.
Santiago Schele finished 52nd at 5-over 221 (74-72-75), and
Harrison James placed 60th at 7-over 223 (70-75-78).
Host Little Rock captured the team title in convincing fashion with a 54-hole total of 34-under 830 (277-276-277). UAB finished second at 13-under 851 (276-295-280), 21 shots behind the Trojans, while Lipscomb placed third at 12-under 852 (276-288-288). North Texas joined Coastal Carolina in a tie for fourth at 10-under 854 (289-278-287).
Lipscomb's Minas Manias claimed medalist honors with a 14-under 202 (64-69-69).
The Chanticleers will open the spring season at the Battle of Briar Creek, Feb. 2-3, on John's Island, S.C.
