STATESBORO, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to the No. 24-ranked Georgia Southern Eagles on Friday night in Statesboro, Ga.

• With the loss, the Chants fall to 1-8-0 overall and 0-5-0 in Sun Belt play.
• The score remained 0-0 at halftime, with Jaland Larmond and Christian Cook each recording one shot.
• The Eagles outshot the Chants 11-2 in the first half and forced three saves from Coastal keeper Harrison Gough.
• Georgia Southern broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, converting a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead.
• CCU nearly equalized in the 74th minute when a shot from Cook was tipped by goalkeeper Nate Martinez and deflected off the post.
• The Chants made a goal-line clearance in the 77th minute to keep the deficit at 1-0.
• At the final whistle, Coastal trailed 18-7 in shots and 11-0 in corner kicks.

The Chanticleers return home to take on Georgia State on Oct. 22. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
