CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team downed the Georgia State Panthers 3-1 on Wednesday evening for its first Sun Belt win of the season.
- With the win, Coastal improves to 2-8-0 overall and 1-5-0 in Sun Belt play.
- The result snaps an eight-match losing streak and marks the Chants' first victory since defeating Winthrop 3-0 on Aug. 21.
- The Chants opened the scoring in the 39th minute as Jaland Larmond finished off a quick exchange of passes with Loed Klaasen, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner for his third goal of the season.At halftime, Coastal trailed 9-4 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks.
- Georgia State leveled the score in the 50th minute when Virgil Dall'Agnol netted his first goal of the season to make it 1-1.
- Coastal regained the lead in the 60th minute when Angel Lopez fired a shot into the top right corner off assists from Klaasen and Jimson St. Louis to make it 2-1.
- Lopez completed his brace in the 72nd minute, heading home a Klaasen free-kick delivery into the bottom left corner to seal the 3-1 victory.
The Chanticleers will hit the road to take on South Carolina on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. ET.
