RALEIGH, N.C. - Coastal Carolina women's basketball will finish their three-game road trip with a contest against NC State in Raleigh, N.C. on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on the ACC Network on ESPN+ as well as the Chanticleer Sports Network.
ABOUT THE CHANTS
- The Chanticleers stand at 2-3 after falling to Virginia Tech 82-59 on Saturday
- Coastal held Virginia Tech to four points in the third quarter and outscored the Hokies 30-29 in the second half
- Coastal shot 47 percent from the field, going 23-49, while Virginia Tech shot 41 percent. The Chants made five of their 12 three-point attempts, finishing at 42 percent. Coastal won the rebounding battle 43-42 while forcing 17 turnovers.
- The Chants held Virginia Tech to 31 percent shooting from three-point range, going just 9-29
- Tracey Hueston put together a strong performance, leading the team with 21 points on 8-12 shooting while making her lone three-point attempt and four free-throws along with five rebounds. Kristin Williams added 12 points on 5-9 shooting and D'Yanis Jimenez was the third Chant in double-figures with 10 points along with five assists..
- Coastal Carolina is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2024-25, going 23-9 (12-6 SBC) and reaching the semifinals of the Sun Belt tournament and WNIT for the first time in program history.
- Coastal's 23 wins last season were the second-most in program history behind their 25 wins in 2019-20. The Chants hit 240 3-pointers throughout the campaign, a new program record.
- Leading the 3-point charge last season was Kristin Williams, who led the Sun Belt with 82 made 3-pointers. Williams was named to the preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team.
- After finishing fourth in the Sun Belt last season, the Chants were picked sixth in the preseason coaches poll, their highest preseason ranking since 2020.
- The Chanticleers welcome 10 new players to the team in 2025-26, with three freshmen and seven transfers.
ABOUT THE WOLFPACK
- NC State stands at 2-2 and is ranked No. 16 in the latest edition of the AP Poll.
- The Wolfpack have collected wins over No. 8/9 Tennessee (80-77) and Maine (66-47), while dropping contests to No. 18/16 USC (68-69) and No. 17/12 TCU (59-69).
- Through the first four games, Zoe Brooks and Khamil Pierre share the team lead with 14.3 points per game, while Tilda Trygger has averaged 12.0 points per game.
- The Wolfpack are led by longtime head coach Wes Moore, who's in the middle of his 13th season with NC State. Moore has won ACC Coach of the Year honors four times and taken NC State to the NCAA tournament nine times, while making the Sweet 16 in six of the last seven tournaments.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Chants will be meeting the Wolfpack for the third time with NC State having won both previous contests.
- Last season, NC State won 89-68 on Nov. 21. Savannah Brooks led the way for the Chants, scoring 22 pts.
- Coastal also lost on Dec. 6, 2020, 98-46.Overall, Coastal is 2-31 against ACC teams, grabbing wins over Clemson and Wake Forest.
- Coastal beat Clemson 63-47 on Nov. 15, 2015. The Chants' win over Wake Forest came on Jan. 9, 2000 in Conway.
- Kevin Pederson beat Clemson on Oct. 29, 2019 in an exhibition 74-72.
TESSA TURNS IT UP
- In her first five games for Coastal, junior forward Tessa Grady has emerged as the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.6 points per game.
- Grady led the team in scoring against Miami (OH) with 13 and Lees-McRae with a career-high 23.
- She matched her career-high in the next game, scoring 23 more against UNCW.
- The Wisconsin transfer has started her season shooting 40% from the field and 31% from three.
COASTAL CHAOS
- Head Coach Kevin Pederson coined the term "Coastal Chaos" prior to last season due to his philosophy of tough defense and forcing teams to be uncomfortable.
- The stats backed up the chaotic defense, as the Chants led the Sun Belt with 20.3 turnovers forced per game and ranked second in steals per game with 10.88.
