Women's Basketball Returns to HTC Center to Face Presbyterian

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina women's basketball returns home to the HTC Center for a contest with Presbyterian College on Monday, Nov. 14. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ESPN+ as well as the Chanticleer Sports Network.

ABOUT THE CHANTS
  • The Chanticleers put up strong second-half performances against Virginia Tech and #16 NC State on the road, outscoring the two ACC opponents 75-66 across the final two quarters.  
  • Coastal fell 71-58 to #16 NC State on Wednesday night in Raleigh, N.C.
  • After falling behind 34-13 at half, Coastal rallied back to bring the game within nine, outscoring the Wolfpack 26-19 in the third quarter and 19-18 in the fourth.
  • As a team, Coastal shot 34% from the field and 21% from three, while forcing 21 turnovers.
  • Tessa Grady led the Chants in scoring with 22 points on 8-17 shooting. Tracey Hueston posted the first double-double by a Chant this season, collecting 13 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Entering Monday's game, Coastal ranks 33rd in the country with 27.2 three-point attempts per game.
  • Grady leads the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game. 

ABOUT THE BLUE HOSE
  • Presbyterian is currently 2-4 with wins over Warren Wilson and Erskine. 
  • Aminata Tal leads the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game, while Ja'Cia Cunningham is right behind with 10.8 points per game
  • Tiffany Sardin is in her second year as the head coach of the Blue Hose, going 6-24 last season

SERIES HISTORY
  • The Chants will be meeting the Blue Hose for the 32nd time, with Coastal holding a 18-13 overall record.
  • Last season, the Chants won 73-46 in Clinton, S.C. Coastal outscored Presbyterian 22-4 in the second quarter to pull ahead.
  • Kristin Williams led the scoring effort with 16 points.
  • Their last meeting in Conway was Feb. 23, 2016, with Coastal winning 60-47.
  • Both teams met annually when Presbyterian joined the Big South, starting with the 2008-09 season.

TESSA TURNS IT UP
  • In her first six games for Coastal, junior forward Tessa Grady has emerged as the team's leading scorer, averaging 15.0 points per game.
  • Grady led the team in scoring against Miami (OH) with 13 and Lees-McRae with a career-high 23. 
  • She matched her career-high in the next game, scoring 23 more against UNCW.
  • Grady poured in 22 points against #16 NC State, going 8-17 from the field and 5-11 from three
  • The Wisconsin transfer has started her season shooting 42% from the field and 34% from three.
  • Currently, Grady ranks 27th in the country with 19 three-pointers made in six games.

COASTAL CHAOS
  • Head Coach Kevin Pederson coined the term "Coastal Chaos" prior to last season due to his philosophy of tough defense and forcing teams to be uncomfortable. 
  • The stats backed up the chaotic defense, as the Chants led the Sun Belt with 20.3 turnovers forced per game and ranked second in steals per game with 10.88.
