Coastal Carolina goalkeeper
Aris Lamanna made her mark in the record books this season, anchoring the Chanticleer defense and turning in one of the best performances in program history.
Lamanna entered the Coastal Carolina all-time record book this season, ranking sixth in program history for fewest goals allowed in a season (18) and tied for seventh with a 1.13 goals-against average. The Murrysville, Pa., native played every minute of the year — 1,440 in total — while recording 48 saves, a .727 save percentage, and four shutouts, tying for the fifth-most in the Sun Belt Conference.
For Lamanna, earning a place in Coastal's record book is a moment of pride and reflection.
"Having my name in the Coastal Carolina record books is an extreme honor," Lamanna said. "When I came here, my goal was to work hard, grow as a player, and help my team as much as possible. I'm so grateful to have coaches and teammates who push me to be the best I can be every day."
Her growth has been evident, particularly in her ability to stay poised under pressure.
"I feel my composure and decision-making under pressure have improved the most this season," she explained. "Every game presented different situations, and I felt comfortable playing with the ball at my feet while being pressured."
Any goalkeeper will tell you that their success depends heavily on the defense in front of them — and Lamanna is quick to credit hers.
"My backline deserves so much credit for this honor," she said. "They were disciplined, put their bodies on the line for me, and stayed incredibly connected throughout the season. The chemistry between us became stronger every practice and game. It was a true team effort from start to finish."
Confidence, Lamanna notes, is another key part of her role.
"Confidence is key for a goalkeeper," she said. "Your team feeds off your energy. In pressure moments, I focus on staying calm, controlling what I can, and trusting my instincts. Communication is also crucial, especially on set pieces, to make sure everyone knows their role and stays organized."
Looking ahead, Lamanna has her eyes set on continued growth both personally and professionally.
"My goals are to keep improving as a player and person and to continue raising the standard for myself and this program," she said. "Beyond Coastal, I want to play at the professional level and keep playing soccer as long as I can."
Head coach
Jo Chubb says Lamanna's impact extends far beyond her on-field statistics.
"Aris's contribution goes far beyond her ability to keep the ball out of the net," Chubb said. "She's a leader on and off the field and a true professional with big dreams. She's a student of the game with a constant ambition to get better — that's what sets her apart."
Chubb also praised the strides Lamanna has made since her freshman year.
"Her confidence and mentality have developed tremendously," Chubb said. "She's always been a great shot stopper, but now she reads the game and recognizes actions at a much deeper level, improving her decision-making and communication with teammates."
As Lamanna continues her journey, her coach sees even greater potential ahead.
"Aris has been tested mentally and physically this year, yet she's stayed true to herself and the team," Chubb added. "She's become a primary motivator for the group, and our goal is to keep developing her to help her achieve her dreams."
With her name now etched in Coastal Carolina history,
Aris Lamanna's story is still being written — and the next chapters promise even more.
