BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Sydney McClure recorded a hat trick and Maddie Bates tallied four points as Coastal Carolina secured its first road win of the season with a dominant 16-6 victory over Gardner-Webb on Friday afternoon at Spangler Stadium.

McClure opened the scoring less than a minute into the game and added two more goals before halftime as the Chanticleers (2-2) built a commanding 10-2 lead at the break. Bates orchestrated the offense with a game-high three assists and chipped in a goal, helping Coastal Carolina outshoot Gardner-Webb 38-22.

Evelyn Kitchin scored twice and controlled a game-high nine draws, helping Coastal dominate possession with a 15-10 edge in draw controls. The Chanticleers' balanced attack saw 13 different players score, including key contributions from Megan Hummel, Gabrielle Beaudet, and Teagan Van Stone.

Kitchin leads the Sun Belt and ranks 19th nationally with 7.0 draws per game. Nine was her second-best effort of the season, trailing her school-record mark of 12, posted against Charlotte. 

Charlotte Sadler anchored the defense with seven saves in 34 minutes before giving way to Kylie Pastor, who added three stops. The Chanticleers' defense forced 15 turnovers and limited the Runnin' Bulldogs (0-5) to just one goal in each of the first three quarters.

Gardner-Webb's Emma Duchscherer led her team with a hat trick, including two free-position goals, while Gianna Nardini added a pair of fourth-quarter scores. Despite a late surge, GWU couldn't overcome Coastal early onslaught.

The Chanticleers remain on the road and face Wofford at noon ET this Sunday..
