CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team used the long ball to run-rule the Winthrop Eagles 8-0 in six innings Tuesday afternoon at St. John Stadium.

With the win, Coastal improves to 12-2 on the season and extends its win streak to nine games.

The nation's leader in home runs, Delaney Keith, added one more to her total when she belted a two-run bomb over the right-field wall to kick off the scoring and give the Chants a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Coastal pushed ahead 5-0 in the bottom of the third frame, courtesy of an RBI double from Keirstin Roose and a two-run home run from Maddy Jennings.

The Chants cut the game short in the bottom of the sixth when McKennah Metzger launched a two-run home run over the center-field wall, and Keith brought in the game-winning run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to secure CCU's 8-0 run-rule victory.

Abby Henderson pitched a complete-game shutout to improve to 4-1 in the circle. The Luverne, Alabama, native allowed just two hits while striking out five batters.

The Chanticleers will be back in action for their final home tournament at St. John Stadium as they host Bowling Green, UConn, and Wisconsin for the Chanticleer Showdown from Feb. 28 to March 2.
