CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 shutout loss to the No. 47-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies on Wednesday morning at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
- Virginia Tech secured the doubles point with wins on courts No. 2 and No. 3, though the Chanticleers led 4-3 in the No. 1 matchup before it was left unfinished.
- In singles play, the Hokies clinched the match with victories on courts No. 5, 6, and 3.
- Senior Anna Babayan was fending off No. 26 Ozlem Uslu on court one when the match was called. Aida Mitrache recorded Coastal's lone set win on court two.
- Freshman Brunelle Kouam fell 7-6 in a first-set tiebreaker on court four but led 4-1 in the second set before play was clinched.
- The Chanticleers return to Sun Belt Conference action on March 14, facing Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga.
