CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team blanked Texas State 6-0 on Friday evening at St. John Stadium, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-game series.
The Chanticleers struck first in the bottom of the third inning when
Georgia Hood launched a three-run home run over the right-field wall, giving Coastal a 3-0 lead.
Hood continued her stellar performance in the sixth, crushing her second home run of the game, this time to left field, to extend the lead to 4-0. Moments later, birthday girl,
McKennah Metzger blasted a two-run homer of her own to seal the 6-0 victory.
Nicolette Picone pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits to improve to 15-2 on the season.
