CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina suffered a heartbreaking 15-14 overtime loss to Elon on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium, marking the Chanticleers' second straight extra-time contest.
Sydney McClure led the Chanticleers (4-3) with five goals and two assists, while
Gabrielle Beaudet added three goals.
Brigid Cardillo tallied two goals and three assists, and
Maddie Bates,
Alyson Mascolo,
Sophie Kingsborough, and
Evelyn Kitchin each found the net once.
Elon (3-3) was powered by five-goal performances from both Sammy Fisher and Ana Lee Vandiver. Fisher delivered the game-winning goal in overtime, sealing the win for the Phoenix.
Coastal Carolina held a 14-9 lead with just over 11 minutes remaining in regulation, but Elon mounted a furious comeback, scoring five unanswered goals, including Vandiver's equalizer with 14 seconds left. The Phoenix carried that momentum into overtime, winning the opening draw before Fisher buried the decisive goal less just over a minute into the extra frame.

Charlotte Sadler recorded 17 saves for Coastal Carolina, while Elon's Caitlin Walsh stopped six shots in the victory.
