CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina lacrosse struggled to keep pace with Vanderbilt on Wednesday, falling 19-7 at Brooks Stadium. The loss drops the Chanticleers to 4-4 on the season.
CCU was led by
Gabrielle Beaudet and
Sydney McClure, who each netted two goals.
Maddie Bates,
Alexandra Horn, and
Megan Hummel added one goal apiece for the Chanticleers.
Brigid Cardillo tallied two assists.
The Chanticleers dominated the draw circle, winning 21 of 28 draw controls, but were undone by turnovers, committing 19 to Vanderbilt's six. Coastal was held scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Commodores closed the game with six straight goals.
Vanderbilt (3-5) took control early, building a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 9-3 at halftime. Molly Krestinski and Nancy Halleron led the Commodores with four goals apiece, while Jaime Biskup added two goals and two assists.
Charlotte Sadler and
Kylie Pastor combined for eight saves in goal for the Chanticleers, while Vanderbilt goalkeeper Molly Joyce recorded seven saves to earn the win.
