CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team completed its three-game sweep of Georgia State with an 8-0 run-rule victory on Sunday afternoon at St. John Stadium.

The Chanticleers struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Reese Collier singled to left field and Maddy Jennings scored on a fielding error to make it 1-0. Clara Hudgens followed with an RBI single to third base, doubling the lead to 2-0.

The scoring continued in the same frame, as Delaney Keith and Georgia Hood each laced RBI singles, and Keirstin Roose belted a two-run home run over the left-field wall to give Coastal a 6-0 advantage.

The Chanticleers extended their lead in the bottom of the third when Libby Pippin ripped a two-run triple down the right-field line, pushing the score to 8-0.

Coastal took care of business the rest of the way, recording the final six outs while allowing just one hit to secure the run-rule win.

Nicolette Picone improved to 19-5 on the season, tossing 4.0 shutout innings without allowing a run.
