CONWAY, S.C. – Jacksonville scored the game's first four goals and remained unbeaten in Atlantic Sun play with a 22-10 win over homestanding Coastal Carolina at Brooks Stadium on Thursday.
JU's Ainsley Scruggs led all scorers with six goals and Allyx Berry added four as 11 different players scored a goal for the Dolphins (9-5, 4-0 ASUN). Olivia Johnson had a game-high three assists and Abby Moran earned 15 draw controls.
Sydney McClure scored three goals and
Alyson Mascolo and Evelyn Kitchen each had two for the Chanticleers (5-9, 1-3 ASUN).
Devin Rybacki collected five draw controls and
Lily Wallace picked up a pair of ground balls.
Jacksonville led 8-2 at the end of the first quarter and 15-4 at halftime as it won for the ninth time in the last 10 games after starting the season 0-4. The Dolphins posted a 30-23 advantage in shots and 20-14 in draw controls. Both teams were perfect on clear attempts, while JU outscored the Chants 5-2 on free position shots.
McClure got CCU on the board 7:17 into the game and then added two goals in the fourth quarter to push her season total to a team-leading 42 goals scored.
Brooklyn Hodgin earned the win in goal after allowing seven goals and recording five saves in over 52 minutes of action.
